AP Chemistry is offered to students who are interested in the subject and/ or based on the evaluation of their previous academic record in general chemistry. The course will navigate through new topics (AP College Board Big Ideas 1-4) while touching on and reinforcing foundations from general chemistry. The course is mathematically based, with a strong lab component. It will develop the students’ ability to incorporate mathematical skills in solving chemistry problems, both through the use of standard AP problems and lab activities. AP Chemistry provides the development of the fundamental concepts and principles of chemistry with an emphasis on inquiry and critical thinking skills. Students will be required to attend two 3-hour sessions outside of class time to engage in laboratory work each semester.
