Design and Innovation
- Prerequisite(s):NoneCorequisite(s):None
Students undertaking Core Design and Innovation - Robotics I will have the opportunity to explore the foundations of robotics solutions using LEGO Mindstorm EV3. This module provides a structured sequence of programming activities in real-world project-based contexts. The projects are designed to get students thinking about the patterns and structure of not just robotics, but also programming and problem-solving more generally. EV3 programming is well-suited for use in a robotics class, as it will allow students to engage immediately and begin building core programming and problem-solving skills before undertaking more ambitious open-ended projects later in the course. By the end of the module, students should be better thinkers, not just coders. In addition, students will also explore Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, 3D printers, and the laser cutter to understand the foundation of how digital programs can connect to a physical output.
