Social Studies 7 explores the disciplinary lenses of culture, civics, government, economics, geography, and history to make connections from the past to contemporary times. With a focus on the concepts of globalization, this study includes an examination of increased economic interdependence and the exchange of ideas, beliefs, innovations, and commodities. Students will analyze the conflicts that arise from differing points of view and ways nations have joined together for mutual progress. Using a skills-based, inquiry-based, and case study model, students will have the necessary skills and understandings that will lead to becoming better-informed, engaged, and globally competent citizens. By the end of this course, students will be able to answer the questions: How does understanding the past help us prepare for the future? And, where do we go from here?
