The Mathematics 8 course consists of units based on Common Core Standards for Algebra, focusing on Modeling with Functions, Linear and Exponential Functions, Linear Equations and Inequalities in One Variable, Linear Equations and Inequalities in Two Variables, Statistics, Quadratic Functions, and Quadratic Equations. Problem-solving and reasoning skills are emphasized throughout the course and assessed using math practice standards. Students also use technology including graphing calculators (on computers) and Desmos. Students who demonstrate mastery of all Mathematics 8 course content may be eligible to substitute Mathematics 8 for the Algebra I prerequisite in the ASD High School Mathematics course sequence.
