Individualized Social Studies explores a variety of social studies disciplinary lenses including culture, civics, government, economics, geography, and history. Students are taught using an interdisciplinary approach that incorporates research from texts at their reading level, direct instruction, and hands-on learning activities. Students are able to explore topics from ancient history as well as current events of today, and ask questions that develop critical thinking skills that deepen their understanding of being able to compare the past with the present, as well as preparing them to be contributing citizens in the future. Student learning is based on individualized goals which modify the curriculum to meet their specific learning needs.
