Prerequisite: Enrollment in Special Education

Individualized Health and Life Skills is a course designed to meet the students’ individual learning needs about taking care of themselves in health topics including nutrition, sex education, healthy movement and exercise, and hygiene. Students receive targeted and direct instruction towards relevant life skills based on their individual learning areas of need founded around age-appropriate topics taken from the Standards for Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) standards, in collaboration with student and family priorities. The aim of Individualized Health and Life Skills is to foster every student’s healthy growth and attaining their greatest level of independence in self-care.
